How teenagers are represented in a scene
In the scene where Wade meets Samantha for the first time, there are some stereotypical representations of teenagers. Using your knowledge of media techniques and the appropriate terminology, explain how teenagers are represented in this scene. Wade meets Samantha for the first time (Youtube) Consider: • Camera angles, editing and lighting • Diegetic and non-diegetic sound • Mise- en -scene This is a Point of View shot used to show Wade's perspective of the world just after he has been kidnapped and taken to where At3mis, also known as Samantha, hides out. The shot is a close up and it is a skewed angle. This shows how scared Wade must be feeling as the man is very close to him, suggesting that Wade is trapped. The skewed angle exaggerates how surreal and unsettling this must be for Wade. The mise-en-scene of a knife further reinforces the threat. Wade is scared here.
